Choice is Freedom

One of the most earth shattering outcomes of Roe v Wade is the dangerous message it sends to the world at large about how readily and easily a woman's right to choose can be removed.

Choice is freedom.

Choice is equality.

Choice is balance.

Choice is safety.

One of the most beautiful outcomes of any devastating legal, political and social developments is the way it brings together community.

On 2 July, we marched and chanted in the pouring rain alongside hundreds who have pledged their commitment to women's rights, health and safety.

Walking beside me were strangers. Strangers that I know will fight for my choice, my future and will protect me at all costs.

Strangers I pledge my love and commitment to in return. My community. To you I write:

Every choice won,

but not without every battle fought,

to cry in rage and sing in harmony is not something we're taught.

Alone we are resourceful but together we are resilient,

beneath our feet and on the shoulders we stand, are the workings of emotional and economic encroach-ment.

The deep fissures within our systems must unwind,

it will happen soon,

sweet love of mine.
