  • FAIZAH CHOWDHURY

    CONTENT CREATOR

Faizah is a passionately opinionated advocate of justice and rights with a firm belief that each time a person stands up for themself, they are standing up for every other individual out there too.

In her role in the Community Engagement Team, she believes in advancing projects and mechanisms to establish a seamless balance of acknowledging historical contexts whilst healing wounded societies and reconstructing them. She recognises that it may be easy to ignore systematic human rights violations but in order for countries to wholly emerge and transition from legacies of conflict and repression, approaches must be rooted in redress for victims and in fortifying institutions to ensure citizens are safe in their own countries.

Faizah graduated with a Bachelors of Political, Economic and Social Sciences with majors in Government and International Relations and Political Economy from the University of Sydney. She is currently finishing a Masters of International Relations with a specialisation in International Law. Following her academic background and experience, she has realised that it is not enough to just be compassionate, one must act to ensure justice and that is what she constantly strives for. She is especially passionate about areas such as domestic and family violence, refugee crises, counter-terrorism, foreign policy.

In the future, she aims to foster long term durable resolution of conflicts and address root, underlying causes of marginalisation and hopes to make sure that a holistic, realistic lens of meaningful justice encompassing various dimensions based on universal human rights is employed.
